P/O Archie Winskill No.41 Sqdn
Hi to all,
I am currently writing the photo history of 1.(F)/123 and I am searching for a photo of P/O Winskill of No.41 Squadron. On the 30.03.41 Winskill was flying as (Blue 2) with F/Lt Tony Lovell (Blue 1). They were ordered to intercept an incoming raider which was plotted approaching the English coast north of Sunderland. The Ju 88 of the 1st Staffel Fernaufklärungsgruppe 123 was attacked by Lovell at 24,000 feet and strikes were observed hitting the fuselage a few minutes later the Ju 88 dived into the ground and exploded. Three of the German crew are still listed as missing in action. P/O Winskill observed the combat and subsequent events. I am very interested to know if any member of the forum can put me in contact with Mr Winskill ?????? Thanks in advance, Melvin Brownless |

Re: P/O Archie Winskill No.41 Sqdn
Hi Melvin
You are actually referring to Air Commodore Sir Archie Winskill CBE DFC & Bar. I believe he lives in Sussex - it might be worth trying the telephone directories. Best of luck Brian |

Re: P/O Archie Winskill No.41 Sqdn
Melvin: I knew Sir Archie quite well and his wife is still alive but now well into her 90s. If the opportunity arises, I will ask but I do not hold out much hope
