Attack on Mory/Cambrai 27 Oct 40
Another lone RAF aircraft again attacked these airfields on the evening of 27 October 1940 just as II./KG 2 were about to take off. Cannot see an link with 107 or 110 Sqns so does anyone have any ideas?

Re: Attack on Mory/Cambrai 27 Oct 40
The 110 Sqn ORB goes a bit wonky in October
Form 540 - nothing on 27.10 and Intruding on 28.10 For the 28th it says 8 sorties 2 bombed primary and six other targets, lists Cambrai Mergnies as being bombed Form 541 - lists sorties on 27.10 and nothing for 28.10 8 sorties listed including- 2 sorties to Cambrai 2 Group ORB 27.10.40 110 Sqn sent eight a/c intruding, one successful on Cambrai 28.10.40 110 Sqn not operating Therefore I go with Form 541 and 2 Group 110 Sqn are responsible Martin |

Re: Attack on Mory/Cambrai 27 Oct 40
Hi,
Mory A/F as target ? We must talk about A/F of Saint-léger. A quick look on Luftwaffe Airfields 1935-45 France by Henry L. deZeng IV gives Saint-Léger/West (FR) (c. 50 11 N – 02 51 E) General: former landing ground in NE France 13 km SSE of Arras and just W of the village of Saint-Léger. History: used by Luftwaffe bombers during 1940 but abandoned when the wet fall weather set in. Subsequently inactivated and either returned to cultivation or obstructed. Surface and Dimensions: grass surface of unknown dimensions. Infrastructure: none noted. Satellites and Decoys: Saint-Léger – Vraucourt (Vaulx-Vraucourt) (50 09 50 N – 02 54 20 E), dummy 4 km SE of Saint-Léger/West former landing ground. Operational Units: Stab, II./KG 76 (Jun 40)?; II./KG 2 (Jul-Nov 40). Station Commands: none identified. Station Units (on various dates – not complete): none identified. Re: Attack on Mory/Cambrai 27 Oct 40
Bertrand: To the Germans it was known as Mory (at least II./KG 2 in 1940)
