Smile Me 109 loss , March 8 1943

Hello gentlemen ,

That day a german fighter was shot down during a dog fight near St Valéry-en-Caux in Normandie , pilot bailed out unhurt .
I would like to identify both man and machine , most certainly from 12/JG 2 . Engine still buried .

Thank you ,
Laurent.

Thumbs up Re: Me 109 loss , March 8 1943

Fantastic John !

Many thanks , location is quite accurate ( in fact where landed the pilot )however is there a possibily to learn more about the man ?

In his "JG26 war diary " , Caldwell states about two 12/JG2 Me109s lost that day , do you have something regarding the second one ?

Laurent.
