Ju 88 Loss 'Bei Gent'

Just acquired a photo showing the fuselage of a Ju 88 and on the back is 'bei Gent'. It was assumed that this loss was 1944. However, a closer look at the fuselage shows the ac to be from KG 77 and it has the letter 'N' roughly applied to the distempered fuselage which would indicate to me that this was a Spring 1941 loss. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Ju 88 Loss 'Bei Gent'

Thanks Matti. Definitely a Ju 88 A with 3Z on the fuselage and Blitz camo which rules out the first. Definitely a Spring-Summer photo so I wonder if it was a typo N for B? Sadly, last letter cannot be seen due to the camouflage

Re: Ju 88 Loss 'Bei Gent'

Did the KG77 Ju88s have blacked over undersurfaces for their 1944 anti-invasion fleet ops.?

Re: Ju 88 Loss 'Bei Gent'

On photo it has remains of Yellow (Front) stripe over fuselage cross. I think it is possibly Belarus, Ju 88 A-4 0881488 3Z+NL 28.03.43 "unbekannt bruch, Plosskaja, 75 km South-east of Witebsk

Re: Ju 88 Loss 'Bei Gent'

Unfortunately I have had to 'loft' a load of my info for the Christmas period , under orders . However if Gent is correct, with the A-4 designation and being likely springtime could this aircraft have been lost during the Baedecker raids which included elements of KG77, Eastern front aircraft transferred to IV/77 ?

Re: Ju 88 Loss 'Bei Gent'

Good point-not forgetting I/KG 77 which returned from Sechtschinskaja at the end of June 1942 to form I/KG 6
