Larry is on a distinguished road
Hughie Green, RCAF and later UK TV show host

To UK members who may remember Hughie Green as the host of Opportunity Knocks (years before Britain's Got Talent) I'd like to know more about Hughie Green's aviation career. Hughie was born in UK but spent his early life in Canada. My late uncle was a neighbour of Hughie Green when he lived in the county.

Like my uncle, Hughie Green joined the RCAF in WW2 and became a pilot. I understand he learnt to fly in the UK pre-war but was rejected by the RAF and so moved to Canada to enlist in RCAF. I know that he was in Ferry Command, but does anyone know what types he flew across the Atlantic? Did he ferry aircraft or just act as pilot ferrying the pilots back across to Canada?
