Messerschmitt Me 209V5/6 (A-1/2)

Does anyone know where to find some detailed drawings and photos of these rare birds?

Thank you,

Dear Ruy,

In William Greens Warplanes of the Third Reich pag.609 is a specification, a general drawing and a picture of the V5 SP-LJ.

Re: Messerschmitt Me 209V5/6 (A-1/2)

Thanks Jaap, sometimes people just need to point you in the right direction.

Warplanes of the Third Reich, by William Greene
German Aircraft Interiors (Vol.1), by Ken Merrick
Die Deutsche Luftrüstung (Vol.3), by Heinz Nowarra
Willy Messerschmitt Pioneer of Aviation Design*, by Ebert/Kaiser/Peters

Found on the net that Me 262 Vol.1, by Smith/Creek features the wings on p. 86 (supposedly with wrong caption).

Best drawings I found were from Model Art Special No. 408 Messerschmitt Bf 109F.

Found a set of linedrawings that were from Messerschmitt "O-Nine" Gallery, by Hitchcock (which I do not have).

Just like the Glenn Martin Mod. 139 I find myself strangely attracted to this rare bird.

Would love to find out more about her.

Looks like Monogram has presented most details to date.

Thanks again, all tips appreciated!

Re: Messerschmitt Me 209V5/6 (A-1/2)

In Jet & Prop 5/04 there is an article (5 pages) from Dietmar Hermann, where the Me 209 is compared to the projected Ta 153, including performance data, one photo of the V5 and some performance curves.
If you like, I could scan the article and send it to you via PM.
Regards
Robert

Re: Messerschmitt Me 209V5/6 (A-1/2)

Dietmar Hermann has written some great material on Focke-Wulf fighters, especially high altitude variants. There is a Jet&Prop special wrt Focke-Wulf Höhenjäger, with some limited coverage on the V5/6, but no graphs.

Can someone check O-nine gallery for me please?

Perhaps go as far as scan the material for me?

Thanks,

Ruy Horta

Thank you,
Not what you asked for but you can get a 1/72 model of the a/c from Huma, #3505 for $22.

www.suurland.com has some so-so drawings.

Re: Messerschmitt Me 209V5/6 (A-1/2)

Thanks saved the suurland scan.

Now I can just hope that someone with O-Nine gallery has a sweet spot for me!

EDIT:

Can someone confirm if there are detailed drawings in AJ-press No. 44 - MESSERSCHMITT Me 109 Vol. 3?

Thank you,

Yes, in the AJ Press booklet there are six-view line drawings for both the V5 and the V6, each with about ten fuselage cross-sections.

Drop me a line if you need them!

Cheers
