Re: Full names of RAF airmen

Hello Brian.
Very interesting, indeed: 2/Lt. Ronald Erling Rørvik is a very Norwegian-sounding name and since several Norwegians joined the SAAF after the German invasion of Norway, this might be one of them.
Have you got more info on this airman by any chance?
Stein

Re: Full names of RAF airmen

Hi Stein

I don't think Ronald Rorvik was Norwegian despite his name - not first generation, anyway. The information I have is that he was born in Durban, South Africa and attended Durban High School. He had a brother in the SAAF who was killed in action with 7SAAF in September 1943.

Best
Brian

Re: Full names of RAF airmen

Hi Boris

Another name on your list: J.I. Pongolly should be John I. Pengelly. Hopefully more later.

Cheers
Brian
