C-54 used by Gen "Hap" Arnold when flying to the Potsdam Conference in July 1945.

From the small digits 055 seen on the nose I believe this is a brand new C-54E 44-9055 delivered to the USAAF on 7.3.1945.

Cheers

Re: Please help to ID USAF airplane "Argonaut IV"

Stig many thanks! Was this a single mission for 44-9055 with Gen "Hap" Arnold in Potsdam, or "Argonaut IV" was attached to serve him permanently?

Best regards,
Alex

I have no such detailed info either regarding the C-54E or General Arnold.
However, being the top USAAF man, I would be surprised if he wasn't assigned his own aircraft.

Perhaps you should search the Internet and see if you can come up with anything further, or you can wait for Air Britain to publish their C-54/DC-4 book.

Cheers
Stig
