Crew and serials of the four S.79 lost by 130° Gruppo on 2 December 1942

Hello,

I would like to know the crew and serials of the four S.79s of 280a Sqa, 130° Gpo, lost on 2 December 1942 off Tunisia.

According to the Osprey Combat Aircraft 106 book, these aircraft were:

S.79 280-11 (MM24093): Tenente Ferruccio Lo Prieno and crew all killed
S.79 280-10: Sottotenente Antonio Vellere and crew all killed
S.79 283-2: Sottotenente Salvatore Ingrosso and crew all killed
S.79 280-13: Aviere Aldo Manca (wireless operator) killed, Tenente Manlio (?) Caresio (pilot) and rest of crew (two wounded) rescued after 78 hours at sea

The serial MM24093 is coming according to a picture text from the squadriglia war diary, so I guess this survived and should display also the serials of the other aircraft involved.

Thanks in advance

Laurent,
that's all I've found:

Caresio Manlio - Caroni - Mancosu - Av. Sc. Marc. Manca Aldo (killed) – La Rossa - Chierici

Ten. Pil. Lo Prieno Ferruccio - Serg. Magg. Pil. Bravin Vittorio - Av. Sc. Mot. Larice Enrico – Av. Sc. Marc. Pischedda Graziano – 1° Av. Arm. Boschetti Giuseppe All missing

Ten. Pil. Vellere Antonio – Sattelli – Av. Sc. Mot. Gelussi Carlo – Av. Sc. Marc. Marras Armando – Milone Antonio: at least Vellere and Marras, both missing, belonged to 283 Sq. The other ones were possibly rescued.

S.Ten. Pil. Ingrosso Armorino - Serg. Pil. Bezzi Renzo – Av. All. (or Av. Sc.) Mot. Bertaglia Achille – 1° Av. Marc. Castaldo Luca Antonio – Av. All. Arm. (or Av. Sc. Arm.) Miraglia Michele: Castaldo killed, all other ones missing.

ciao

Gianandrea
