Normandie 20 june 1944
Hello, I would like to know who bombed by mistake the village of Bures en Bray in Normandie on 20 June 44 at 19h30 in the evening .from local witness it was a group of 9 bombers, 14 people were killed whom 11 children ...If you can help , thank Alain

Alain - I would think it was a squadron of 9th AF B-26s in tactical support of invasion troops. No 8th AF Bombers in that area.

It may also have been 2nd TAF RAF bombers. Allied air force (8th and 9th AF, 2nd TAF) flew 2960 sorties in support of the ground troops or against V-1 launching sites this day.
But the size of the formation is very probably indicating a medium/light raid. |
