Maj George E. Preddy, CO of 328nd FS, 352nd FG was shot down by own American AA fire somewhere "SE of Liège" on 25 Dec 1944 in P-51D "44-14906".
He was pursuing a FW-190 at treetop level at that time when 555th AA Bn had opened fire. Pilot ace Preddy was killed. Who has a more exact location where this took place? Regards, Leendert Brugge/Belgium |

Maj George E. Preddy 44-14906 25 Dec 1944
Koczar,
Many years ago some sources mentioned that Maj George E.Preddy was shot down near Liège. As I'm especially interested in the airwar over Belgium, some detailed research was made regarding this crash. It turned out that the plane didn't crash in Belgium, but in Germany. As my research was made some years ago I have to look for the source of this information. I'll inform you as soon as possible. Best regards Luc |

Re: Maj George E. Preddy 44-14906 25 Dec 1944
Hi Luc,
Many thanks for the reply. I would be most interested in your findings. I have a very keen interest in Major.Preddy and have a website dedicated to him, & his brother William and the 352FG. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/cripesa...dyBrothers.htm During my own study of information regarding the location of the crash site for Major. Preddy.. I came across what I believe to be discrepences in eye witness accounts of the action as to where they thought Georges aircraft came down. I have mapped out from what I have found the possible course of the flights as assumed from the eye witness accounts, and information from books etc. To me the information doesn't add up. The flight paths are not the same. Im no expert..at anything..but common sence tells me there something a miss. I`'ll post you a pm with the picture. I have used Google earth..I know the geography may have changed since the war..but the basic layout of towns etc and river features etc are the same.(may have trouble reading the text. Please tell me what you think. Koczar Last edited by CRIPES_A_MIGHTY; 18th January 2008 at 13:28. |
