9./JG2 wiped out in Normandy 23 June 1944?
In one source it is said that this staffel was all but wiped out by Spitfires. 2nd TAF by Chris Shores identified their attackers as possibly 144 Wing. Can anyone tell me how many aircraft were lost by JG2 on this date?
On this date the RAF claimed 14 Fw190 against LW losses of 8, can anyone tell me which of these Fw190 were lost after 1800 that day? regards Keith |

Re: 9./JG2 wiped out in Normandy 23 June 1944?
Many thanks chaps. Bruce, as a result of your prompting I have bought myself a copy of Foremans FCWD to replace the one I used to have which was destroyed when the boiler in my attic sprang a leak . Michel - to my shame I got my information about the massacre of 9./JG2 from Wikipedia and now am embarrassed that I did not see there was no corroboration in any of my other sources.
best regards Keith |
