Gfr. Günther Langner, kia 13 may 1940

Gents,

I'm looking for the unit Günther Langner was asigned to on the day he was killed.
The JG 26 war diary p.34 by Caldwell claims Langner was flying a Bf 109E on 13th may 1940 when he was shot down by a RAF fighter.

Another claim states that Langner was a Bf on a Ju 87 B-1, Wn 5513 of 12.(St.)/LG 1 flewn by Uffz. Wilhelm Bienk, when he was killed.

Gfr. Günther Langner is buried at Ysselsteyn grave AZ-2-27, but only once...

Hello Bas,

Gunther LANGNER (b. 28.2.1920 in Breslau) buried at Ysselsteyn AZ-2-27 was Bordfunker in 12.(St)/LG1 as follows:

Hello Peter,

thanks for your reply. Till now Caldwell lookes to be the only one who claims Gfr. Günther Langner was part of JG 26 when he died.
I found that JG 26 lost four of their number over Holland that day.
Uffz. H. Speck, Fw. M. Frank and Lt. K. Borris.
Does anybody know the name of the fourth pilot?

Remi, I've got nothing to confirm the Wn.

Re: Gfr. Günther Langner, kia 13 may 1940

Bas,

There were indeed only three JG26 losses on May 13.
Uffz. H. Speck, Fw. M. Frank and Lt. K. Borris as you summarised correctly.
The presumed fourth simply comes from the erroneous labeling of Gfr Langner as being JG26 too, which he wasn't.
So no need to look for a fourth name.

Regards, Pieter
