another HE 111 identification
I have a photo of my uncle, an American pilot, in North Africa sitting on the tail of an HE 111 that looks like it has the numbers 4279 on the tail. One word under that with about 12 letters starting with an S and ending in a Y. Can any information be gotten from those clues. Photo was taken in the spring or early summer of 1943. Thanks Gary |

Re: another HE 111 identification
Hi Gary
It's a He 111 H-6 / 4279. Your code must be the SKZ "SK + IO". This aircraft made its first flight at 06. July 1941 in Rostock-Marienehe. best wishes JoMe |

JoMe
Thanks. The photo has my uncle sitting on the tail above the white theater band but to far back to see any of the unit markings except for a bit of what I now know is the 0. Is there a way to get any more detail about the plane? Thanks again, Gary |
