Re: LtCdr JB Edmundson

Cheers Tom. It does seem curious that he doesn't get even an MiD. I have taken the entry from the Armoured Carrier Website...

On the morning of April 17th CAP was flown off at 06:00. At 0609 a few bogeys were detected to the north west of the Fleet and a flight of Hellcats were sent to investigate, Sub-Lt D.G. Jenkins RNVR in JX743 ('143/W') shot down one Zeke. At 1627 more bogeys were detected 110 miles west of the Fleet, this time Corsairs from 1834 squadron intercepted at 55 miles and 2 out of 6 Zekes were shot down, the others escaping in cloud.

I have entered two victories for David Jenkins on this date but had amended it to one based on this - although "Heaven High, Ocean Deep" states he claimed two, and this is a primary source. So it's back to two.

This site http://www.armouredcarriers.com/task...-pacific-fleet

however does not credit any victories on April 17, 1945. "The Forgotten Fleet" by John Winton credits Hemingway alone but reverses the timeline giving 1844 two kills in the afternoon....
One thing is certain, that only three victories are registered on April 17.

regards

Keith

Unfortunately it confirms the chronology, but doesn't identify the claimants or aircraft types
