nightfighter losses 16/17-june 1944
Hello,
On june 17, 1944 at about 03.50 h (report time) a German Nightfighter made a forced landing near Steenderen, East of Arnhem (The Netherlands). The a/c was damaged but the crew of 3 was ok. Who has information about the nightfighter losses that night? RAF Bomber Command attacked Sterkrade (synthetic oil plant) with 321 bombers. Probably a NJG 1 aircraft ??? Regards Karl Lusink ARGA |

Karl.
We've got the same info, and no crew. Data came from "Aircraft crashes Me 110", whatever that may be. It's not much, hope it helps

The police reports says: At 03.50 h (local Dutch time) a Dutch police officer was informed about the forced landing of a German aircraft 500 meters East of Steenderen. The police officer went to the crash site and he saw that the aircraft was partially destroyed and the three crewmembers who were firing flares were unhurt. The police officer called it a German Fighter aircraft. Thats all Regards Karl Lusink |

Re: nightfighter losses 16/17-june 1944
Crashed due to fuel starvation while attempting to land at Deelen. Strong headwinds. Weather was poor as well. Ceiling of 80 to 100m. Belly landing.

Karl,
Thanks for the info; 1991 was a few years before I joined the Airwar Studygroup. Rémi, Can you share the source you are using for your data on the Unit, percentage damage and crew, with us. Tia.
