LtCdr. Bert DeW. Morris jr USNR

Hello,

Very little it seems is known of this Hellcat pilots wartime history.
His claims , 7 air plus 5 ships.
His awards were the DFC with three gold stars and the Air Medal with two gold stars.
bert flew 57 missions and wrote off at least 3 Hellcats that on return from ops were ditched over the ships side .
His first confirmed claim was a 4 engined Mavis Flying Boat on 11th June 1944.

Can anyone inform me as to what were his other claims and which were the ships claimed ?

I would also like to hear of this airman's wartime record with regard to the DFC's and AM's, what warented such rewards ?

Thanks
Alex

Morris remained in the Naval Reserve and commanded an F6F squadron in SoCal; don't recall just where. One of his ensigns said that on his last day "at work" he led the squadron in a tailchase reeeeal low over Warner Studios (IIRC), landed, got in his car and drove off the air station. BTDT!
