Air attack on Jafü Süd Frankreich

Nick Beale and I have together pieced a little story together of the only attack in the West, I have been able to find in history, on a Luftwaffe Fighter Control Center. Please see: http://www.gyges.dk/Jafu%20Sudfranch.htm . There has circulated accounts of allied attacks on DIOGENES (3 JD), but they seem to be unfounded. DOIGENES was as a mater of fact so close to some drop zones so it was on the friendly side of the bomb-line,which we to-day would call the FLOT (Forward Line Own Troops). DIOGENES was evacuated 17 SEP 1944 during Operation MARKET GARDEN due to fact that the telephone exchange in Arnhem was destroyed and 3 JD lost all lines required for the production of the air picture, fighter control and communications. This could partly explain the modest claims by the Luftwaffe on 17 SEP http://www.defendingarnhem.com/victories.htm . MINOTAURUS (7 JD) was also abandoned after a heavy attack on the airfield, again not due to damage to the bunker itself, but to the telephone lines.
