Luftwaffe transport units supporting DAK in Tunisia

Hi Everyone

I am after finding out which JU52 and DFS 230 units were operating in support of the Tunisian theatre in 1942/43.

Also, what were their camouflage schemes and the codes on the fuselage?

Any help/pointers appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

DK

Re: Luftwaffe transport units supporting DAK in Tunisia

Hi there

theres a new book recently published called Transporter volume one - Luftwaffe Transport units 1939-1943 by Martin Pegg. Its one of the new luftwaffe colour series which has a lot of info, photos & colour plates of the aircraft flown by the luftwaffe during that time inc DFs230 gliders.

dont know if you've seen it yet, but its a good book.

Regards
TonyO.

Re: Luftwaffe transport units supporting DAK in Tunisia

Hello,

The most prominent DFS230 unit that was active in that theater of war was the :

1.(DFS) / VK(S) 2 (present from june 1942 untill mai 1943)

Then also a few DFS230 where attached towards the I./StG 3

These are the most important DFS related units.

Cordial greetings,

Hi Stijn David

Thank you for this.

"Luftwaffe Transport units 1939-1943" is great for JU 52 units, but not much on gliders in Tunisian theatre ... do you have any info/pointers regarding call signs and other markings?

Cheers
