US fifth army, Spitfire crash in Italy
I found this story happened near to my land:
"Photograph US servicemen standing in a field with crash-landed British Spitfire." 22 Nov. 1944, Fifth Army Loiano Area, Italy. The pilot was Sgt. William Henry Bundock, Colchester, Essex, England. “ Where can I find the MACR and info about this plane crash ? Thanks |

Re: US fifth army, Spitfire crash in Italy
Spitfire LF.IX PT839 of 87 Squadron, hit by flak and crashlanded 22/11/1944.
As this was an RAF aircraft there will not be an MACR. Instead, brief details will be in the Squadron Operations Record Book, AIR27/713, the relevant section should be available for download for a small fee from the National Archives. Sean. |
