Seeking photo (s) of Bf110C-2 3U+KP of 6./ZG2 FL at Mill Hill Farm, Rettenden, Essex, England, on 30.08.40
Hello,
Seeking photo (s) of Bf110-2, 3U+KP forced down in England on 30 August 1940, with the 5 Staffel crew captured:
"30 August 1940: 6./ZG26 Messerschmitt Bf110C-2 (3496). Both engines damaged in combat with fighters during escort sortie for KG53 and belly-landed at Mill Hill Farm, Rettenden, Essex, England, at 4.30 p.m. Possibly that claimed by W/C F.V. Beamish or F/O I.B. Westmacott of No.56 Squadron. FF Uffz Rudolf Franke and BF Uffz Willi Hübner (both of 5/ZG26) captured unhurt. Aircraft 3U+KP 100% write-off."
Although I have a photo of the two 5 Staffel crewmen captured aboard this a/c, I have none of the FL aircraft itself, although I may have a photo of this a/c with previous tail damage on an earlier mission.
I believe 3U+KP to be the only Bf110 of the seven lost or written off by the Zerstörer forces that day for which I don't have good photo coverage of the FL a/c or their crashes in either England or France. I'd sure like to complete the coverage that date. Can anyone help?
