The aircraft was set on fire by the crew, though extinguished by the airport fire brigade. Air Britain's book on RAF Liberators say that negotiations were begun to hand it back to the US but it is only assumed that it reverted to the USAAF. I suspect that the airframe was too heavily damaged and it was scrapped in Portugal.

Does anyone know the former ID of the reportedly three ex RAF Liberators operated by Portugal?
