Do17Z of III/ZG 26 lost on 14 April 1942

Hello,

I would like to have details of the losses of III./ZG 26 in a battle over a convoy off Malta on 14 April 1942.

"Malta the Spitfire year" describes it with many details about the British losses (a Blenheim, a Maryland and 5 Beaufort shot down and two Beaufort force-landed) but only says that the gunner of a Bf 110 of III./ZG 26, Unteroffizier Rudolf Lenthoff, was wounded and that a Do 17Z of the same unit was shot down.

I would like to know the Wnr of the Do 17 and the name and fate of the crew.

Thanks in advance

Laurent

This would seem to be the machine you're looking for, but no mention of casualties - then again, when I had the films, I didn't realize the significance of the updates. Notlandung was given in the loss, but Notwasserung would likely be more correct.

Do 17Z, 3250, n.n., , III., III., ZG 26, , , , , 14-Apr-42, Notlandung due to enemy fire. Crew rescued., , Ob.Bhf.Süd/Mittelmeer, Gen.Qu.6.Abt. (mfm #5)-Vol.8, , über See, 100%, F, , ,

Thanks Jim, the book cited above did not say anything about the crew of the downed Do 17, so it is plausible all were rescued.
