Battle of Britain 601 Squadron "Log Book"

I attach without comment scans of a logbook attributed to Flt Lt E Campbell of 601 Squadron, 1940.

This on the back of the recent "release" of "genuine" Battle of Britain paperwork into the marketplace.

Andy,

Fantastic ! Many previously unrecorded sorties by No.601 Squadron are detailed. Truly an incredible document.

History is being re-written as we speak!

Next week, on special offer; Douglas Stanford Tuck's Flugbuch and Adolf Bader's Log Book.

Evidently I am way off track on this and it is not a fraud after all.

Andy, how much evidence to you have to put infront of someone? RD's stance is ridiculous, he'd gain more respect by admitting that he'd not looked at the scans before sounding off.

Re: Battle of Britain 601 Squadron "Log Book"

I think the whole problem is that the vendor will say that he didn't know it was a fake and was selling it in good faith. Or he will say that he has no idea where he got it from. Even if he is the forger then that has to be proven, and that might be tricky unless they are caught in the act with forged or partly completed forgeries or with the materials and equipment and things like rubber stamps, re-printed forms, blank log books and old typewriters.

We all know that this and other material is blatantly (and patently) forged - notwithstanding the pronouncements of others on the issue. Many of us have a pretty good idea as to the source. Proving it is another matter of course.

Well, its very fake in my view.

Others may not agree. Apparently.

(PS - read the other posts in that thread and not just the one the link directs you to)

Has this come from the infamous Louth fake factory?

Re: Battle of Britain 601 Squadron "Log Book"

Since it was bought from a (now) unknown antique trader I am afraid that tracking its source of origin might be difficult if not impossible.

Whilst some may have suspicions about its source I think that making a definite link with anyone will mean that they will remain just that - ie privately held suspicions.

Incredibly, the debate about this Log Book rumbles on elsewhere....with one firmly held view that the Log Book is neither a fake nor a fraud!
