Loss of Hptm. EBERHARD STUEWE, III./KG 77
Gentleman!
The loss of the following officer seems mysterious. Who can give some details about it? Hauptmann EBERHARD STUEWE, born 30.03.1914, is missing since 07.06.1944, the second day of the alliied invasion, over the River Seine-Estuary near Le Havre. At this time STUEWE was leader of the bombergroup III./KG 77, but this unit was based at Orange in the southeast of France, and has to fly torpedo-missions over the mediterranean sea. Did they fly with there Ju 88 missions over the invasion area, so far away? Can anyoneone tell me loss details? The plane which he flew, names of his crew? EBERHARD STUEWE was decorated with the German Cross in Gold and after death with the Knights Cross. Many thanks. bakerman
