JG 54 air victory no. 8.000 ?
Does someone of you know which JG 54 pilot made air victory no. 8.000?
(Albin Wolf made the 7.000, Wettstein the 9.000) Each help is very much appreciated. Cheers, Horst |

Re: JG 54 air victory no. 8.000 ?
dear Horst,
surprinsingly, I was searching for infos on Wettstein career on the forum when I saw your post. According to my small sources, I see two different opinions on your question: "JG 54, a photographic history" (page 33) indicates that Wettstein scored the 9.000, but Jerry Scuts' JG54 indicates number 8.000 (page 137); who knows ? regarding Wettstein himself, what are the sources telling his background before his arrival to JG 54 (feb 43, date of his first victory ?) and after his surrender to the British in Denmark ? (bundesluftwaffe carer ? still alive ?) and regarding his score, I found 21 kills in Tony Wood's (outstanding !) work, and regular sources indicates 34 (I presume that the lacking kills were claimed in Courland in 1945, when I was not the major "preoccupation") regards philippe |
