Geft Alois Pollach JG2
Does anyone have any information about Geft Alois Pollach of JG2 shot down on the 15th October 1940, in a 109 at Everton, Hampshire by 609 Squadron. He was taken prisoner at the crash site but I can not find out where he was taken. Also any details of his service prior to this incident would be helpful. Thanks Del.

Re: Geft Alois Pollach JG2
The machine crashed in a field occupied by Mr J. Fawcett at Hart's Farm, adjoining Everton Nurseries, and there was a violent explosion as it hit the ground. Its wreckage was strewn over an area of 200 yards, while the hood of its cabin was picked up in Thorn's Farm, about a mile away.
The pilot landed only some 60 feet away from the blazing wreck, and was quickly and quietly captured. One of the first to reach the German was Mr E. O. Ling, an ARP Warden of Milford, foreman at the Nurseries, with Messrs H. Woodhouse and S. Kenchington, members of the Everton Home Guard, also employed at the nurseries. |
