Ramrod 257 3 October 1943

Can anyone tell me the LW losses during this operation. I had believed that the Hornchurch Wing encountered JG3 but other sources indicate JG26 were their opponents.

regards

Keith

To attack Ramrod 257 with the targets Woensdrecht, Haamstede and Schiphol, II and III of JG 26 were scrambled but no contact or losses.

I./JG 3 didn't arrive at Lille until 21 Oct 43; Mark's post is correct according to Jochen P.

Hi all,

what about this post:
http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showth...t=October+1943

I have it in my file like fight in Schiphol area with some claims of 129. Sq, 402. Sq and W/Cdr Chadburn for Digby wing and W/Cdr. Compton for Hornchurch wing again Bf 109G from JG 3.

...I should take more water in it, I obviously switched off. Apologies for my error in repeating my question, what can I say carelessness, age, alcohol dependency

I did a lot of work on Crawford-Comption a couple of years back but I think I lost my last research because I have no entry for LW losses on 3 October.

Thanks for the heads up
