Walrus continued ....

Hi guys

Whilst on this theme, may I ask if anyone can confirm a U-boat sinking, or possible sinking, on 10 April 1940 in the North Sea, east of Orkneys, in which a Walrus was involved. Apparerntly the 'kill' was shared by the Walrus and RN trawlers that 'finished it off'. I can't seem to find a U-boat loss on this date but do note that U-1 and U-50 both went missing round about this time.

Cheers
Brian

Hi Brian,

No U-boat is listed as lost on 10 April.
For more info about U-1 and U-50 see :

Regards,
Michal

Thanks Michal.

I wonder if the submarine was in fact the wreck of RN sub HMS Tarpon, which was sunk on this date?

Cheers

Hello Brian,

check the position with this data for U-Boats on 01.-15.4.1940:
http://ktb.ubootwaffe.net/ktb041940a.zip

I didn´t check the positions, but:
14.46 Uhr U-2 (Planquadrat AN 26xx) muß vor einem britischen Flugzeug vom WELLINGTON-Typ tauchen.

There are some other attacks/actions by/with U-Boats/Escorts.

Greetings

Darius
