Re: Crash locations 115 Sqn Lancaster PD276 and 158 Sqn Halifaxes MZ734 and MZ945 25 Oct. 1944 sought
Just to add a bit on the crash of PD276, which we said “The aircraft crashed in a field near a convent called Haus Schur, and the wreckage was not discovered by the nuns until the next morning.”
This is the convent (scroll down on the link): https://www.rheinruhronline.de/essen...relisabeth.htm It is located at 51.395445, 6.955550 in Schuir (not "Schur" ). https://www.google.com/maps/place/51...5445!4d6.95555 You can zoom down on the google maps location and pick out some of the details of the white buildings. The area is still mostly fields around it today. The nuns moved out in 2016 and today the buildings house some 500 refugees. Last edited by RSwank; 14th March 2021 at 21:40. |

Re the Lancaster PD 276 crash site. A google search finds some details on "Haus Schuir", located just to the SE of Mulheim- Essen airport.
