Kurt Bender (?) - gefallen 13.IV.44

Someone posted on the thread Luftwaffe Intersest a group of photographs of a certain KURT BENDER (? - apparently Bender), born on the 5 October (X) 1919 and gefallen in action against "Amerikaner" on the 13 IV (April) 1944 (seems 44, although I had tought it was 1945 previously).

Is there a RECORD for a KURT (probably Bender) lost on the 13 April 1944?

I tried on Kracker and on the Deutschen Volksbund (it seems harder nowadays to search online) and I got no joy on either.

If not this certain Kurt Bender, who is this aviator born on 5 October 1919?

A.

Re: Kurt Bender (?) - gefallen 13.IV.44

I have not found any Bender, who fits to your description. However, Kurt Jäger would fit:
1944-04-13, 4./JG 301, Bf 109 G-6/R7, 411375, 1 weiße, Bei Ráckeresztúr, 6 km nordwestlich Ercsi
Flugzeugführer Oblt Jäger, Kurt (1919-10-05). +
Absturz um 13.00 Uhr nach Luftkampf mit B-24. Bruch 100 %.

MATTI,

Another time I am in debt...I had seen him and he was on the "probable" list with some other names...My gratitude again for your usual helpful hand.

Re: Kurt Bender (?) - gefallen 13.IV.44

It seems he was a Beobachter earlier in his career, and there is some entry on DE ZENG Files informing the date he was promoted to Leutnant (RDA) rank (1943). So, he probably later underwent a Pilot's Affiliation course and went to fly on the Reich Defence.

By the way, was there a Bf 109 G-6/R7? I remember up to G-6/R6, but not the R7...
Was it similar to the Bf 109 G-4/R7 ??
