Re: Do 217 A-0

Rémi,

Do 217 A-0 W.Nr. 2704 was captured on Sicily and it is well documented photographically with registration DA+JU - numerous photos sold on ebay.

Do 217 A-0 W.Nr. are 2701 to 2706 and not 2101 to 2106 as given in error on stammkennzeicehn.de.

GM+A* or CO+J* has nothing to do with the six Do 217 A-0.

Best regards
/Mikael

Re: Do 217 A-0

Thanks Remi & Mikael
As far as I know W/Nrs 2101 to 2106 are not Do217 W/Nrs but 2701 to 2706 are

Re: Do 217 A-0

Right STKZ.de fool me, better to rely in primary sources, the only that I hv which name Wn nd STKZ is the FB Beauvais Do217E-1-V 2709/CO+IM to read CO+JM dated Sept.+dec.42

The FB Riedl/Grassmann/Baist/Jorga name the CO+IJ nd CO+JK/CO+JL as Do217-V7/Do217-V8 different Wn. are given for these codes, from 2704 to 2708.

We hv the DA+JU/2704 or 2703 found in Sicily, nd an DA+JW in the FB Reuth !!!

If Mikael could give us some more "light" ??

I know now better why Chris spake of troublesome model

Rémi

Re: Do 217 A-0

Hi Rémi,

W.Nr. 703 = Do 217 V5
W.Nr. 704 = Do 217 V6
W.Nr. 2701-2706 = A-0
W.Nr. 2707 = Do 217 V7
W.Nr. 2708 = Do 217 V8

I quote from my book "It is commonly stated in many publications that two A-0 aircraft, W.Nr. 2703 and 2704 were allocated as test aircraft and given the Versuch numbers V5 respectively V6. This is however incorrect and is an unfortunate misunderstanding that is often repeated. The Do 217 V5 and V6 had the W.Nr. 703 and 704 and were taken from the Dornier sequential W.Nr. series which covered all types of Dornier aircraft built at the time. These prototypes were at no time equipped with the DB 601 engine contrary to what is suggested in publications."

Best regards
/Mikael

Re: Do 217 A-0

I've not done my homework on the Do 217 so I'll just stick to DA+JR to DA+JW for the A-0
