KG1 He111 H-3 (3245:V4+EH) loss 15th September 1940

Hello,
In Francis Mason's publication, 'Battle over Britain', there is mentioned a loss of a He111 H-3 on 15th September 1940 that belonged to 1/KG1. The aircraft 'crashed at Le Houdrel after combat with fighters'. Apparently three crew members were wounded in this action.

Would anyone be able to shed any light on the names of the crew of this aircraft and any other information regarding this mission, eg times, opponents etc?

The reason that I ask, is that I have recently seen an award document for sale. It is for a wound badge in black for an action on 15th September 1940. This is the only KG1 lose I can find for the day after searching the other well known publications regarding losses. The crew member's name is Eugen Einsiedel.

Thank you in advance to anyone that can help me with this question.
Regards,
Andy

Gefreiter d.R. Eugen EINSIEDEL was gunner aboard the He111H-3 (3245) of 1./KG1 that was damaged by RAF fighters during a sortie to London and crash-landed near Le Hourdel on September 15, 1940. He was wounded and admitted to hospital in Domfront. Two other crew members were also wounded; flight engineer, Uffz Hans SCHNITZLER, and radio operator Uffz Heinz DAASE.

Thanks Peter,
I am very grateful to you for this information. I looked in 'The Blitz', then and now' volume 3 and found that Uffz. Eugen Einsiedel was later posted missing in action on the night of 29-30 May 1941, when he failed to return from an anti-shipping sortie while serving with 2/Kustenfliegergruppe 606.

Andy

Hello,
I have now received the two documents that I mentioned earlier.

I have been trying to research KG1's sortie(s) on 15th September 1940 and can find nothing. Everything seems to be focused towards the day ops. Can anyone point me in the direction of any literature that may tell me more about KG1 on this day. I presume KG1 was operational during the evening/night?

Any information about the times of KG1 ops on this day would be gratefully received.
Regards,
Andy
