Re: 1 (F)/AG 123 and AR 234?
Hi Larry,
Just to confirm Jörn's comment, on 6 May 1945 1.(F)/123 was reported at Hohn, and 1.(F)/33 was at Grove (NA AIR 55/227). As for the last long-range reconnaissance mission of the war, perhaps that honour belongs to Westa 3 on the morning of 5 May 1945, flying a Ju 88 mission to the south of Iceland. Or a BV 138 of S.A.Gr. 130 on the night of 6/7 May (not my usual research area, but last night I happened to be looking at May 1945 flights from Norway). Cheers, Andrew A. Re: 1 (F)/AG 123 and AR 234?
"Do you think Oblt. Planck was mistaken or perhaps not telling the truth?"
Hi Larry and Andrew. I'm not allways right;-) I think that he is mixing things up. It's correct that 1(F)/123 flew recon up till the end. 1 Ar 234 from this unit made a landing at Aalborg-West beginning of may 45, but left again for Hohn. So Planck could also have made a landing at Grove, and left again. Or he transferred to 1(F)/33 and so ending up at Grove. Jörn |
