Location FF and LF Truthahn May 1944?

Dear all,

Who can supply the exact location of the radio beacon (FF) and Light Beacon (LF) Truthahn in May 1944. It must be located somewhere SSE of Eindhoven, but I need the know the exact locations of both the FF and the LF Truthahn.

Cheers and thanks! Theo

Hi Theo,
These beacons no doubt were part of the radar site with the same name, please see:

Hello all,

If you don't mind that I interrupt this thread, but the FF and LF were located in the Auswerte-Stellung of 5C alias 'Truthahn' near Hunsel, not the Geräte-Stellung NW of Weert and approx. 13km NW of Hunsel.

Best regards, Marcel

Re: Location FF and LF Truthahn May 1944?

Hello Michaël,

Not quite if I may say so: your magnificent map shows the general location of Truthahn, whereas I tried to explain that Truthahn belonged to the Funkmess-Stellungen in the former searchlight belt. This category of stations were split in two locations:

1) the Gerätestellung in front of the old searchlight belt: 2 Würzburg-Riesen, 1 Freya and later 2 Y-towers. The data was transmitted over wired landlines to
2) the Auswertestellung, 10-12 km backwards in the former searchlight belt: T-Hut, barracks for a cantine and resting quarters, radio masts and a vertical shining searchlight as visual beacon.
Dutch examples: 4B (later Fox), 4C (later Kröte), 4D (dissolved), 5B (later Bazi) and 5C (later Truthahn)

In all other, 'isolated' Seeburg-Lichtenstein Stellungen like Salzhering, Tiger, Gorilla, Marder, Bisam, Zander etc. the radars and T-Hut were combined in one compound.

All the best, Marcel

Hi Marcel,
We are talking May 1944 all the sites you mention had been converted to Himmelbett Stellungen.

Re: Location FF and LF Truthahn May 1944?

Hello,

I agree but that does not change my view that the radio and visual beacon were at the Auswertestellung of Truthahn (former 5C).

Warm greetings from Venlo, Marcel
