Low Level Attack vs. SS-Baracks Dachau

Hello,
on 19. September 1944 and 23. Oktober 1944 the SS-Barracks from the Dachau Konzentration Camp was hit by low level US-Fighters. Is it possible to find out, what Fightergroups either 8th oder 15th Airforce fly this missons?
Thanks a lot.

Re: Low Level Attack vs. SS-Baracks Dachau

On the 19th September there is nothing obvious in the Munich area

23rd October it is only the 15th AF that is operating

82nd FG escorted B-24s to Allach
14th FG escorted B-24s to Augsburg
332nd FG escorted B-24s to Regensburg

Everyone else went to Pilsen, so likely to be one of these three

Re: Low Level Attack vs. SS-Baracks Dachau

The 1st FG may be another possibility, see this MACR:

https://catalog.archives.gov/id/91069235

The MACR is for P-38 43-28815 flown by Richard P Decker, 72st FS, 1st FG. The MACRs says he was on an escort mission to Munich when lost. The Munich mission that day was for an aircraft engine factory located in Allach (Munich). Dachau is about a mile north of Allach.

One thing odd about this event is the fact that while low level strafing by escort fighters was often done on the return flight from bomber escort missions, they usually would be some distance away from the bombing target before they would do such an attack (often on railroad targets).
