FAA ditching November 1940
Hi,
Trying to gather details on a Fulmer ditching on November 26th 1940 from H.M.S. Ark Royal? Also the 'writing-off' of a Skua on the same date and Carrier. Any help appreciated. Steve

Re: FAA ditching November 1940
Steve,
Don't know if you have the info already from link https://www.naval-history.net/xDKCas1940-11NOV.htm ? Scroll down to 26 and 27 November, mentioning two losses of 808 Squadron with names of pilot/crew of a Skua and Fulmar operating from HMS Ark Royal. However, also see https://www.bbm.org.uk/airmen/Coates.htm which puts Coates in a/the Fulmar on 26 November. Perhaps naval-history has a Skua in error on 26 Nov? No. 808 FAA Squadron had exchanged their Skuas for Fulmars shortly before, I gathered. Regards, Leendert |
