Re: Fw190 D-9 left side

Tony and Revi16 you are both correct. The supercharger (blower) air entry hole is on the cowling, not the fuselage panel, on everything! (I was jumping the gun out of excitement thinking that big hole on the left panel must be related to the supercharger.) It was a silly mistake.

If I'm not mistaken, the supercharger ram air intake is on the right side of the Fw-190 D-9 and Ta-152 H because they were both powered by Jumo 213 engines. The Ta-152 C had the DB-603 and the ram air intake was on the left.

Re: Fw190 D-9 left side

Take the second photo in Reudiger's 1st post & rotate it 180 degrees. It is then on the same orientation as the diagram in his 2nd post (#6) I don't know what the round hole is, but I don't think it is far enough forward to be the supercharger inlet. I believe we are looking directly at it in the 3rd picture in Tony's post, (#9), the panel/rivet lines appear to match rather well & the protruding rounded box in Reudiger's 2nd picture, 1st post is the foot hold for the pilot to use getting into the cockpit, covered by a flap in Tony's picture. Also the smaller hand hold box can be seen too. I still can't see what the round hole is for though but it is in the right place for the thing that looks like a trim wheel in the diagram in post #6 but not so much in the photo in Tony''s 1st photo in post #9???
Steve.

Re: Fw190 D-9 left side

Just a thought, no facts, but could the panel be an access hole for the throttle assembly or engine, for field maintenance.
