Ju 87R-4 6234

All

I have this aircraft as being lost due to engine failure, but have also read it was shot down by Soviet fighters. Can anyone confirm either way?

TIA
Dave

This was Lt. Rudolf Neumann's "L1+FW" of the 12(St.)/LG 1, lost 24.April 1942 due to engine damage during a mission to Murmansk. The crew parachuted, Neumann returning (he eventually flew 550FF), his radio operator Uffz. Kurt Gräf remains missing.
Parts of this machine were recovered in 1994.

Thanks GRM.

I think 12(St.)/LG 1 was redesignated 3./St.G.5 by that time, even though the machines kept the LG codes.

Ju 87 R-4 W.Nr. 6234 will fly again

It may already be known to many of you, but this week the partially restored Ju 87 R-4, W.Nr. 6234, was shown to the public by the Flying Heritage museum. It is supposed to fly again within a couple of years:

https://flyingheritage.org/Explore/T...R-4-Stuka.aspx

As far as I know, the exact location where it was found in Russia is still unknown.

Will be great to see a Stuka flying again.

Cheers,
Roger
