Seeking Confirmation of a 234 Sqn Loss

Hello,

Seeking confirmation of a 234 sqdn loss for the 24th April 1942.

Recent purchase of a flying modell and a metal 1/72nd modell of the same Spitfire "AZ-G".

This has led me to seek out information on the pilot.

From info within the magazine that accompanied the metal modell the name is given as Lieutenant. Axel Svensen.

I checked FCL vol 2.

This has for the 24th April 1942

234 Sqn Spitfire Vb
BL924
P/O. N.H. Svendson - PoW
Circus 132, Ostend,pm. Engaged by Fw190's of JG26. Pilot Danish.

In a later vol there is an update -

234 Sqn is changed to 64 Sqn

The name is corrected to read A. A. Svendsen

The PoW is changed to read KIA.

From the CWG website Svendsen is given as with 234 Sqn at date of death.

For those in the west Country he was the adopted son of a Mr & Mrs Iverson from Exeter, Devon. He was just 20 years old.

I would like to know -

Why the alteration from 234 to 64 Squadron .

Was the pilot or Spitfire moved from one Squadron to the other or what ?

Where did Norman Franks get the update re Sqdn from and is it correct?

Separate from the above, How many Danish pilots flew with the RAF?

All for now.

Await replies.

Alex
