Hi Guys.
I have info that Ju 188 F8+FP was serial no 0251
I don't have a breakdown on 188 serials. Was it A, E of F model
Where was it written off and when.

What is your source? I have not (yet) found reference to Ju 188s being used by KG 40 (they did use Ju 88s with the FW 200 units and of course V/KG 40 used the Ju 888 C-6) albeit Kommando Rastedter (some times subordinate to KG 40) did use a few 188s

Re: Ju 188 KG 40

Hi Chris.
It has F8 on the photo before the Marking.
One source also says F8 was KG 55, but it was the only reference I havt ot 55, most others say 40.
Photo looks like Italy. Hope it helps

Re: Ju 188 KG 40

Smells of corrupt info. One case of F6+ reported as F8+ in Italy 1945.
No match on any Ju 188 A/D/E/F for serial 0251

Re: Ju 188 KG 40

Hi Merlin.
The 8 must be a 6, a bit dark over that area, and the E also looks right.
Quite damaged on the photo.
I am quite far on the book on all the a/c found by the South Africans up north.
Still need to get to anything past J in the alphabet, and then the French stuff we collected in Madagascar.
Thx a mil

Re: Ju 188 KG 40

Please confirm serial shows 0251. I have 0258 F6+EP damaged in crash 22.11.1944.
(two killed, one injured) Designation Ju 188 D-2 (not as Merlin writes).

I do wonder if everybody thinks it is allright carry on and on writing German designations not correct most of the time.

Re: Ju 188 KG 40

Tail indeed has camo and shape for Ju 188 A/D/E/F (and Ju 88 G) series.

"Air War Italy" P.214 has this "Ju 188, KG 40 (?), 0251, F8+ED, Demolished"
From No 1, FIU report 25.05.45
