Re: Photo Nieuport

Clint

Surely you must have something else on this aircraft than just this photo?
With a damaged fin (probably due to an overturn) I cannot see anything useful with regard to the STA number....

Capture/loss report perhaps, or a better photo of the fin?

Cheers
Stig

Re: Photo Nieuport

Hi Stig,

N 1955 is, as the saying has it, much photographed. Initially I just did a google search with Nieuport 17 Le Prieur as the search term. However, an old favourite is here:

http://albindenis.free.fr/Site_escad...adrille068.htm

Also the seller has been offering Jasta 24 stuff for the past couple of days (see the Albatros D.III thread) which unfortunately is being snapped up immediately as perversly enough I find myself wishing his purchase immediately price was higher!. But in any event N 1955 was downed by Jasta 24.

Regards,

Clint

Re: Photo Nieuport

Thanks Clint

I suppose there must be a loss report somewhere in France.
Not possible with certainty to read the serial on the photo published by the Albert Denis site either.
Or maybe the original is better....

Cheers
Stig

Re: Photo Nieuport

Just guessing Clint, but what about a N.24bis?

1915 (seller's statement) is rubbish of course

Re: Photo Nieuport

Hi Stig,

Does it say 24 bis on the component at the extreme end of the left wing? It looks a bit like it, though I cant be sure and then again perhaps N something on the line above that. I'm really uncertain.

Regards,

Clint
