Warrant Officer Mitchell's Tempest
Hi there, I'm hoping someone can help here but I'm researching the markings of a Tempest flown by Warrant officer Mitchell on April 14 1945. Mitchell was shot down by Willi Reschke's Ta-152 on this date but other than that I have very little information on his Tempest. Does anyone know its callsign, serial or any other information on the way it looked?
Any help would be much appreciated. |

Re: Warrant Officer Mitchell's Tempest
Mitchell was flying Tempest V SN141 SA-U of 486 sqn. Standard 2nd TAF markings at the time were Ocean Grey/Dark Green uppers, Medium Sea Grey lowers, Sky codes, Night (black) spinner, rear fuselage band painted out in camouflage colours, all roundels 'C1-style', ie. narrow white rings and narrow yellow outer ring.
