ZG 76 history help

Hi all,

Is here anyone who has an interesting photographs/documets regarding ZG 76 from years 1943-44(45) and is willing to participate in filling gaps in the unit history by sharing it?
Some of you maybe know, that for about a decade I am working on a ZG 76 history book which is near closing... so please if you can help and add some bits and pieces, contact me.
(so far about 300 photos men and machines and about 81k words count).
Thanks!

Re: ZG 76 history help

Hello Peter,

Just a small addition regarding a ZG 76 loss on October 3, 1943:
Fw. Eisert and his Bf Griessl took off at 15:16 from Ansbach in Bf 110 "EH" to fly an "Üb.Einsatz" (I guess practice mission). It also says "15:45 Motorbrand in 7000 m Höhe, Absprung mit Fallschirm / Langenzenn".

Kind regards,
Daniel

Re: ZG 76 history help

Hello Peter,

Source is the flight log of Fw. Eisert. I had access to it many years ago and made only a couple of notes.

There were also two Alarmstarts mentioned.
The first one was on October 1, 1943 with Bf Griessl in Bf 110 "DH", take-off 12:46 from Ansbach, landing 14:10 at Bad Wörishofen, Einsatzraum Stuttgart - Friedrichshafen - Bludenz.
The second one was on January 24, 1944 with Bf Homfeld in Bf 110 "5", take-off 10:51 from Ansbach, landing 13:09 at Prag-Gbell, Einsatzraum Schweinfurt - Frankfurt/M - Pilsen - Prag.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Re: ZG 76 history help

Thanks, very valuable info.
I guess the FB is not acessible anymore? :/

small addings. They seems to be from 1. Staffel and I have the names of Bordfunkers as Uffz. Josef Griessel and Gefr. Helmut Homfeld

Re: ZG 76 history help

I don't know, that was over 15 years ago.
I also think it was 1. Staffel. The flights with ZG 76 were only about two pages as far as I remember, there were no other missions mentioned in the flight log however.
The name was clearly Griessl in the flight log, they were also flying together at Memmingen before ZG 76.

Kind regards,
Daniel

Re: ZG 76 history help

thanks, will check the name again in the sources...
I. Gruppe documents are more reare than II gruppe. so if those few pags of ZG 76 flights could be obtained, it would be great. Can you try please?
and Memmingen it was ZG 101...almost for sure.
best reards and thanks
Peter

Re: ZG 76 history help

Hello Peter,

No luck with the flight log, but I did send you a photo of Fw. Eisert from a different source when he was a flight teacher with FFS A/B 13, that's why I accessed the flight log in the first place.
He is also pictured in a group photo here: https://fliegerschicksale.de.tl/02-.--Dezember-1944.htm
Scroll down to Fritz Beck, Eisert is third from right.

Kind regards,
Daniel
