Siegfried Schubert' s Me 163

Looking for information on his Me 163[s] he flew with some success while with I/JG400. I have seen him with 'weisse 16' in a cine still shot. Wondering if there is any other information out there? Thanks.

It's $290 for the original volume one. Here's the revised edition:

Re: Siegfried Schubert' s Me 163

Anyone who knows what the revision is?

Since I have the two first books (total pages 448) vs the revised single issue (total pages 406) it feels like nothing really has been added, but rather corrected. There are some "silly" misprints which I should have corrected so no doubt done in the present single volume.

With a prize tag of EUR 69 it has be something really good if I am going to buy it....

But having said that, the two books are excellent and if anyone dosn't have them I can certainly recommend the single issue as such!

Nimbus
Schubert is mentioned a couple of times in vol 2. He came from LLG 1 and did his conversion training with EKdo 16.
He is known to have been with 1./JG 400 on 7 March 1944.
Made a sortie 16 Aug 1944 where he claimed a B-17, landed at Altenburg and was towed back by a Bf 110 to Brandis
Made a sortie 24 Aug 1944 where he damaged a B-17 flown by Lt Koehler. This B-17 never made it back to UK. Schubert also claimed the B-17 42-97571 on that sortie
Made a sortie 7 Oct 1944 where he attacked and probably damaged a B-17
Made a second sortie that same day in WNr 16310070 GN+MD when he had engine problems during take off and crashed to his death.

Re: Siegfried Schubert' s Me 163

My understanding is that this volume incorporates additional content - approx 20 pages or so - based on e-mail exchanges with Stephen. The Crecy website mentions 464 pages. I've certainly supplied Stephen and Hans with additional information for incorporation as I know has at least one other researcher.

I'll leave it to you to decide whether you perhaps sell your original volumes and buy this or not. I guess it depends on the extent of your interest in the type.

Re: Siegfried Schubert' s Me 163

Thanks Steve

The number of potential buyers where I live are minimal and with postage being as it is, sending it abroad would probably double their costs.

I don't have an "Amazon type of deal" with any go-between company so I am basically stuck with what I once bought.....

Main interest is the actual production and any changes that may have taken place in those appendixes listing that.

Cheers
Stig

Stig

That's fair enough. I supplied some information on some of the lesser known pilots, some SA F2 Berichte as well as a few odd HAF documents shedding light on development / production issues. I know Stephen was also supplied with a fair amount of additional information on production matters but I don't know exactly how much of this material could be included in the final text.
