5th Guards Tank Corps c.o.
I'm looking for the name of the Commanding officer of the 5th Guards Tank Corps on the 06Jul43 at Kursk. I believe he was a Colonel A.S. Burdeynogo (not sure on the spelling of the last name).

Re: 5th Guards Tank Corps c.o.
Hi,
the C.O. of the 5th Guards Tank Corps was Lt.-Gen. Andrey Grigoryevich Kravchenko (from February 1943 till January 1944) Jan |

Re: 5th Guards Tank Corps c.o.
Jan,
Thanks for the reply. I rechecked my source and it turns out I put the wrong unit. It should be the 2nd Guards Tank Corps. I'm sure that the author must have put the wrong rank because a Colonel over a Corps is a little low in the ranking. |

Re: 5th Guards Tank Corps c.o.
Hi,
as a matter of fact he ( Aleksey Semyonovych Burdyenyy ) really was a colonel in July 1943 when he took over 2nd Guards Tank Corps and was promoted to Maj.Gen. in August. He remained in the position of the CO of the corps until the end of the war Jan |
