May 1940 Hurricane& Spitfire Losses ?
Hello ,
I have been looking at the Hurricane and Spitfire losses of the early part of 1940. Who can tell me what if any Hurricane's and Spitfire's were lost (all causes ), for the dates 1st to the 8th of May 1940. I cannot find any. If there were any could you supply serial numbers and/or Squadron's please. Thanks in advance Alex |

Re: May 1940 Hurricane& Spitfire Losses ?
hello JeffK,
Yes, thats what I thought. Strange though, not even any SOC's or non op accidents for 8 days could be a record. What was the weather during that time ? I have - 2 Hurricane losses for the 23rd April. 1 Hurricane loss for the 25th April. 2 Hurricane losses for the 26th April. 1 Hurricane loss for the 30th April. Plus one Hurricane to Finland on the 25th. Next, 1 Hurricane loss on the 9th May. As for Spitfires, I have 7 in April. and am working on May - June. I have then from 3rd July through to Sept. Again its just this few days in May that seem to be empty. Thanks again Alex |
