Re: Douglas Boston III loss May 18 1942
Hi Santiago
I noticed your post about the Douglas Boston of 418 Squadron. The pilot who survived was my father. After spending 3½ years in Stalag Luft III he came home and eventually was posted to the US and attached to the USAF. He was ferrying a Northrop F89C Scorpion from San Francisco to Florida when he landed to re-fuel in San Angelo, Texas. On take-off, the Scorpion stalled and crashed and he was killed. The Scorpion had a poor safety record. If you like, you can contact me at: stewartandersen@gmail.com Best Stewart |
