Help in identifying a Bf 109

A photo taken in Hungary in late March 1945 shows the rear fuselage of what appears to be either a Bf 109F or a G (W.Nr. _183, Stkz. _ _+RC).

Would anyone know the identity of this broken bird?

Thanks,

Re: Help in identifying a Bf 109

A 4-digit WNr. would likely point to the machine being an 109E or F, although I seem to recall at least one instance of a late-model G with only the last 4-digits being displayed - but it may only be my imagination/bad memory.

Hello Jim,

The W.Nr. could be longer, only the last three digits are visible.
Any clue?

Re: Help in identifying a Bf 109

Hi,
it could be one of the following:
WNr. 8183, F-2
WNr. 13183, F-4
WNr. 15183, G-4
BU+RC, G-6
DE+RC, F-2
DN+RC, G-6
PN+RC, G-6
PP+RC, G-6
SM+RC, G-6
TE+RC, G-6
VH+RC, G-6

Unfortunately no WNr./Stammkennzeichen combo that reflects __+RC and WNr. ending in 183 in my database.

Regards,
Norbert

Re: Help in identifying a Bf 109

Thank you, Norbert, for the info.

Can any of these '109s be tied to Hungary, and survived until March 1945?

Re: Help in identifying a Bf 109

Hi Denes,
unfortunately none could be tied to Hungary based on my information. And WNr. 15183 is out since the Stammkennzeichen ends in PA.

Regards,
Norbert

Re: Help in identifying a Bf 109

Hello Dénes,

Barring posting the photograph, could you tell us where the Werknummer is positioned, as well as the last two letters of the St.Kz. (i.e. fuselage or lower wings)? This will greatly aid me in searching my database files.

Re: Help in identifying a Bf 109

The last two letters are visible on the rear fuselage, as is the constr. no. on the fin root, in black.
I will try to post a photo tonight.

Here it is:

W.Nr. 7183?

Re: Help in identifying a Bf 109

That is an E or earlier. You can tell by the tailfin. To me that is a lowercase 'r' after the 'N'.
