418 (RCAF) Squadron Mosquito IVs
Mosquito buffs,
Having just re-read Dave McIntosh's entertaining 'Terror in the Starboard Seat', I wonder if anyone can advise serial number/code of the Mosquito flown by McIntosh and his pilot on 21/22 June 1944 (when paint burnt off Mosquito following explosion of V-1) and on 6/7 July 1944 when they landed on one engine, again damaged by V-1 explosion. Thanks Brian |

Re: 418 (RCAF) Squadron Mosquito IVs
Hi Brian:
I've got a note here, citing assorted squadron doccos, which says Sid Seid and Dave McIntosh were in HR149, TH-R on 21/22 June. I'll see what I can find for 6/7 July. Incidentally, there is a photo at the Imperial War Museum collection - Photo No.: CH 20880 - which shows HX811 TH-K with all its paint scorched off, however it is not clear what date this latter incident was. A small scan of this pic is available here: http://www.iwmcollections.org.uk/qryPhotoImg.asp Type CH 20880 into the "Photograph Number" search box. On the left-hand side of the page which results, you'll see a hyperlink named 4700-16 - click on this and it should take you to a another window. Click on *that* image and you'll get a slightly larger view. Cheers, Mark |
